Since 1988, Mildreds Soho has been part of the furniture on Greek Street, a pioneer of bold vegetarian cooking long before it was the norm, and now fully plant-based since 2021. What began as a rebellious answer to bland meat-free dining has grown into a London institution, with sites across the city and a reputation for globally inspired vegan food that’s inventive and full of personality.
Soho remains its spiritual home, and it’s hard to imagine a better neighbourhood for bringing people together. With Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road just moments away, and the West End’s theatres, bars and late-night energy on the doorstep, it’s a location that suits everything from early evening dinners to celebrations that roll on into the wee hours.
Private dining at Mildreds Soho carries that same inclusive spirit with enough capacity for between 10 to 28 people. Spread across three floors, the newly renovated space offers flexibility for intimate gatherings or livelier group events. The aesthetic is unmistakably Mildreds: coral walls, bold panels and artwork, and a statement ceiling painted with a swirling mural overhead. A neon sign declaring “I licked it so it’s mine” adds a playful edge. By day, the room feels bright and contemporary; by evening, candlelight takes the mood somewhere a little more atmospheric.
Menus are designed to showcase the kitchen’s globally inspired approach. Starters might include coconut corn ribs with lime leaf dressing and mango yoghurt, or chipotle chick+n tinga tacos layered with charred pineapple salsa. Mains range from artichoke Caesar salad with sourdough croutons and fried capers to a Korean fried chick+n burger glazed with gochujang and served with kimchi slaw. For something heartier, stout mince and onion pie arrives with garlic mash and red wine gravy. Drinks are equally considered. A lychee rose martini blends gin, lychee and citrus; a dark chocolate old fashioned brings bourbon and bitters together with a hint of maple. Fresh juices and a wine list spanning pink, orange and red options round things out.
