Hidden away on the first floor of Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Jamavar in Mayfair, you’ll find a gorgeous blue indigo private dining room. The Sapphire Room, resplendent in royal blue tones, seats up to eight guests and has been the site of many a deal made over a corporate dinner, elegant birthday celebrations, anniversary meals, and more. The colour pays homage to the natural indigo dyes of India, often referred to as ‘blue gold’, which became a precious commodity from the 1770s.
The Sapphire Room, with its tasteful decor, warm glow, and glass wine display case, also boasts large floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over a carefully planted botanical garden. All of this means it makes an ideal spot for business lunches, baby showers, and other daytime gatherings.
For the uninitiated, Jamavar offers a taste of Indian palatial dining with luxurious finishes. There are several restaurants worldwide, each designed to offer exclusivity, comfort, and intense Indian flavour. Dishes range from the royal kitchens of the North to the coastal flavours of the South, with highlights like lobster neeruli, Old Delhi butter chicken, and truffle masala dosa. The team is more than happy to curate a special menu for your private dinner at Jamavar. Wine pairings and tasting menus are also available, with a sommelier on hand to guide selections.
For larger private dining parties at Jamavar, there’s also The Game Room, which can be used as a semi-private area, accommodates up to 38 seated guests and features its own mirror-embellished bar. Alternatively, set across two floors, The Dining Room and The Game Room can be hired together, increasing the guest list to 108. Inspired by the intricate Jamavar shawls of Kashmir, the design features rainforest and emperador marbles, dark timber panelling, and gilded lincrusta wallcoverings.
