Situated in a 15th century coaching inn, Crazy Bear is a five star hotel and venue boasting two restaurants specialising in British and Thai cuisine, as well as a variety of spaces for a private dining occasion. Each room is distinctly decorated and boasts varying capacities, making Crazy Bear a truly unique destination that's sure to impress your guests.

There are plenty of rooms for hire that would be suited to a private dinner, whether you’re marking a milestone birthday with family and friends or celebrating with colleagues. Crazy Bear’s distinct restaurants both offer private dining options. Host up to 40 guests with exclusive hire of Hom Thai, bringing bold flavours from across Thailand for your next event. The English Restaurant is also available for exclusive events, ideal for those looking to enjoy thoughtful, seasonal British cooking.

Elsewhere, The Library can accommodate up to 32 guests and features a long table, classical decor, and two large skylights offering abundant natural light. Slightly smaller groups of up to 22 might be interested in the Hunting Lodge, which boasts unique wooden interiors and with antler chandeliers as a nod to the local game hunting industry. Larger parties are right at home in the Moroccan Lounge which features low cushioned seating, a draped fabric ceiling and views over the hotel pool area. This can host an impressive 90 guests.

For the meal itself, you can choose from a three or five-course contemporary British menu which changes seasonally. Starters include delights like quinoa arancini with plum tomato sauce, Cornish scallop with parsnip puree and a yuzu dressing or Duck with raspberry and basil gel. Mains are kept hearty, including options such as skrei wellington in a Champagne sauce or chicken with truffle and chive mash served with creamy morel. We had a birthday dinner party for friends and family where we booked a room (the hunting lodge), and everything was perfect. The room was lovely, the food incredible, the service excellent (Vlad and Chloe were looking after us all night and we didn't want for anything - big thanks to both!). The best thing about it was how the night just flowed and was fun from start to finish. A big reason behind that was the meticulous planning from the events co-ordination at the venue - who just organised everything for us (and accepted some last minute changes without blinking an eye). Many thanks in particular to Saanya who took care of the organisation and booking from start to finish!

The perfect wedding venueDECEMBER, 2023

I always wanted to stay at the crazy bear so when I was looking for a wedding venue and I saw the crazy bear do weddings I was delighted.We made an appointment and was shown around the hotel, we booked our wedding there and then with ease.Coming up to our wedding date the event planners were in constant contact. Saanya especially ensured she understood what we wanted and the general vibe we were hoping to create.Saanya listened to us and ensured everything went to plan. She checked and double checked so not to make any mistakes and our wedding was everything we hoped it would be. The day ran like clockwork, Saanya oversaw everything and every detail was in place. We had our ceremony in the library then up to the beautiful crystal room for champagne and canapés. Then back to the library for our meal. The food was sublime, we had chefs in our wedding party who stated they had never had such a good beef wellington. Then up to the moroccan room for the evening party.In the evening Vlad was responsible for making sure the guests had their drinks. He was an absolute star! Most guests were drinking cocktails and this lovely man ran around all night keeping everyone supplied with drinks, hot drinks or anything else the guests wanted. He was attentive, polite, funny and welcoming.The venue is awesome, the guests were flabbergasted by the decor. The staff were amazing and made the day really special.All in all Saanya and Vlad gave us the wedding we wanted - and more!I would highly recommend this as a wedding venue.

Amazing venue to celebrate with family and friendsOCTOBER, 2023

We hosted my 60th birthday party for 30 in the library. It was amazing.Saanya our event organiser stayed after her shift to greet us and show us the way to the Moroccan lounge for pre diner drinks and make sure all the table decorations we had brought were arranged downstairs while we mingles with our guestsMario and Joel looked after us wonderfully the rest of the night. Mario was very professional and the service was slick. Everything went so smoothly.The food was superb … I believe our chef was Marc. Everyone commented on the quality of the food especially the lamb and the sea bass.I would definitely recommend it for private functions.
