Westminster Boating Base is a striking riverside venue tucked away in Pimlico Gardens, offering panoramic views of the Thames and a surprising sense of seclusion that feels surprisingly serene given its central London location. With its unique position right on the banks of the river between Chelsea Bridge and Pimlico Station, Westminster Boating Base stands as an adaptable venue suited to summer parties, corporate events, product launches and social celebrations, with a versatile interior that can be tailored to a wide range of styles and formats.
Fans of 2003 rom-com Love Actually may recognise this venue (taste explosion, anyone?) as the setting for Peter and Juliet’s reception. Outside of its big screen appearances, Westminster Boating Base offers two primary rooms for hire, linked by a glass atrium and typically hired together.
The Pavilion is a standout, extending over the river with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, flooding the space with natural light and offering uninterrupted views across the water. For seating dining, The Pavilion Room accommodates up to 100 guests, with space for 120 in a theatre-style layout and 150 for standing receptions.
The Edgson Room, meanwhile, is slightly more enclosed and ideal for events with 60 standing guests, equipped with colour-change LED lighting, inbuilt speakers and a covered balcony. It’s also great for board meetings and workshops, seating up to 40, with space for 50 when arranged theatre-style. There’s also a generous riverside terrace, which is perfect for summer parties by the River Thames. Plus, if you’re looking for exclusive hire, Westminster Boating Base can accommodate between 130 and 350 guests.
Westminster Boating Base’s packages are designed to include all the essential items you’d require for a typical event, and the team can be flexible when it comes to timings. Importantly, Westminster Boating Base is a registered charity, and all venue hire fees directly support its youth outreach and training programmes.
