Tucked away in a six-acre garden close to the City, the Honourable Artillery Company is a hidden gem which offers reams of space for all manner of events within the typically crowded London Landscape.
On the north side of its lawns sits 18th-century Armoury House, which houses various beautiful stand out spaces. One of the most coveted rooms has to be The Long Room with its minstrels’ gallery, which is awe-inspiring in its grandeur. Wood panelling lines the walls, while military portraiture adds a unique dimension. Low-hanging chandeliers and fireplaces complete the picture for a cosily lit, traditional room that lends a sense of occasion to any event.
Elsewhere, there’s the more contemporary Prince Consort Rooms, which the SquareMeal team regularly use for our own events given its adaptability. With a pitched, curved roof and white walls it has an airy atmosphere and plenty of room. This dynamism lends itself to shows, large-scale dinners and presentations among other things.
If you’re planning on booking a summer event then you might like to plump for the garden, with its vast lawns and mix of modern and traditional surrounds on all sides. Part of the space here is used for sports fields, so there’s always the option to host a charity match or teambuilding sports challenge should you fancy doing something a little bit different for your next away day.
Thanks to the grand setting, city-centre location and beautiful architecture, weddings are also popular here. The atmosphere adds to the sense of occasion while the in-house team can lend a hand with the planning – from décor to menus. The official caterers, Searceys, have a long history of cooking for the most prestigious events, and focus on seasonal, sustainable food that tastes delicious and is beautifully presented.
The Honourable Artillery Company’s handy location is a further draw, being just a stone’s throw from Liverpool Street which makes it a straightforward venue for guests to travel to and from.
