About Tamesis Dock

Tamesis Dock is a converted 1930s Dutch barge that doubles as a neighbourhood bar and events space. Permanently moored on the Albert Embankment between Lambeth and Vauxhall Bridge, and blessed with epic views of London’s major tourist attractions – including the London Eye, Houses of Parliament and Battersea Power Station – its waterside location provides the perfect vantage point to take in the city’s iconic skyline. Whether it’s a summer party up on the top deck or a birthday bash hosted in the buzzy bar downstairs, Tamesis offers multiple spaces and hire options to suit.

One of the venue’s most popular hire options is private use of the lower deck, which can be hired until 1am (with a late licence available) and is able to accommodate live bands. The space can hold up to around 80 guests standing, with the option for additional guests to roam across the boat. With double-height ceilings, numerous seating options, a TV screen, AV capabilities, bespoke lighting and the option to control the music, it’s well-equipped for celebratory occasions.

Part of the fun of hiring a boat is being able to enjoy the water, so why not opt for the outside west deck? With space for up to 40 guests and some of the best views on the barge, this area is ideal for summer occasions, while still allowing access to the rest of the boat if the weather turns. You’ve also got the outside stage deck, for around 25 guests - a slightly more intimate alfresco space, but with standout views.

Want to hire the entire boat? You can. Exclusive hire of the whole barge allows you to host up to around 150–230 guests across indoor and outdoor event spaces. For larger events, a late licence until 3am may be available, subject to minimum spend and requirements.

The Lower Deck at Tamesis Dock combines generous high ceilings with sweeping views of the Houses of Parliament to create a space that feels both impressive and welcoming. For evening events, the Lower Deck is available for a minimum of 70 guests on Fridays and Saturdays (50 or more at other times). You’ll also have access to the rest of the vessel, including the kitchen and a fully stocked bar, giving you the freedom to extend your event or host more guests with ease. If you’d like extra space or outdoor access, the Lower Deck can be combined with the West-Facing Deck or the Outside Stage Deck as part of a generous prepaid package — perfect for larger gatherings. Hire fees and minimum spends vary depending on the day and time of your booking. As we’re always improving the space, furnishings and layout may change slightly, but the atmosphere remains unmistakably Tamesis: relaxed, lively, and full of character. Cancellation Policy

All payments non-refundable once confirmed. If the rare event we must cancel, we will refund or relocate your booking.

Catering

We offer a range of party menus from £5 to £40 per person. We also have our standard onboard 'Dosa & Dough' menu that customers can order from.

AV Equipment

We simply require a £200 card authentication (no payment taken) to access our PA system, as a deposit against any breaches of our t's & c's. We can offer Sound Engineers from £200 (depending on what is needed).
