About Royal Museums Greenwich - National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum is part of a unique list of venues that comprise the Royal Museums Greenwich, along with Cutty Sark, the Queen’s House, Royal Observatory Greenwich and the Peter Harrison Planetarium. Located on the UNESCO World Heritage site of Maritime Greenwich, The National Maritime Museum offers a glorious backdrop for any event held here, including business lunches, awards ceremonies and gala dinners.

There is a plethora of rooms available to hire, but the museum’s impressive glass rooftop, 19th-century grandeur and large-scale spaces lend it brilliantly to show-stopping events. In fact, it’s the largest venue on offer from the Royal Museums Greenwich. The main event space is The Great Map on the first floor, which is where you’ll find its impressive glass roof to create a light, airy and modern space. This room is able to hold up to 500 people seated, or 1000 standing, and is strongly recommended for large-scale events such as corporate receptions, award ceremonies and networking. There is also the option to include newly-installed lighting and an audio rig with hire of the venue, to create a dramatic backdrop to your event and boost the flexibility of the main space.

The Square, meanwhile, is located on the ground floor and is perfect for the likes of receptions and pre-dinner drinks, with space for up to 500 people for a standing event. The museum also houses a lecture theatre for 120 people theatre-style, which is ideal for daytime meetings and conferences, and a selection of meeting rooms for corporate events (these can be used as breakout rooms from the theatre).

If you’re looking for an alfresco space on warmer days or evenings, then guests can venture out onto the Colonnades and Lawns which offer sweeping views of Greenwich Royal Park, the River Thames and Canary Wharf.

Hard work pays offJUNE, 2022

Thank you so much for all your hard work on the event. I know just how much has gone into it and am sure behind the scenes, it was not at all straightforward.
