Looking for a regal, historic wedding venue in London? The Queen’s House provides a spectacular setting in the heart of the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed by pioneering architect Inigo Jones, this former royal residence sits amid the greenery of Greenwich Park, with manicured lawns and views stretching towards the River Thames and the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf.
Couples have exclusive use of the event spaces, allowing different parts of the Queen’s House to provide a natural progression through the day. Civil ceremonies and wedding breakfasts can take place in the Great Hall, where up to 120 guests can gather on the original 17th-century black-and-white marble floor, beneath the ornate gold-leaf ceiling artwork. The famous Tulip Stairs provides another striking architectural feature and a memorable backdrop for wedding photographs.
In warmer weather, celebrations can spill outside onto the South Lawn and beneath the Colonnade. Surrounded by manicured grounds and views across Greenwich Park, it’s an elegant spot for Champagne, cocktails and canapes before guests head inside for dinner. The adjoining Orangery and South Parlours offer another light-filled reception space overlooking the park.
After dinner, the vaulted Undercroft beneath the Great Hall provides a change of atmosphere. Its three interconnected rooms accommodate up to 150 guests, with separate areas for dancing, a bar and relaxed seating. It also provides a useful wet-weather alternative for daytime receptions.
Food and drink can be tailored through the Queen’s House’s approved caterers, covering everything from formal multi-course wedding breakfasts and bespoke canapes to Asian, Mediterranean and West African menus and more relaxed street-food options. Couples can also work with the venue’s approved and recommended florists, photographers, entertainers and production specialists, allowing the historic surroundings to be personalised for each celebration.
