Black Friars Lane, London, London, EC4V 6EJ

Dating from 1672, this City venue has all the historic character of a traditional livery hall. The oak-panelled Great Hall, with its beautiful 18th-century candelabrum, suits receptions and dinners. The more intimate Court Room suits smaller parties and has a stately home feel, with portrait-lined walls and stained-glass windows. Next door, the bright Parlour is great for smaller meetings or as a breakout space. An elegant courtyard makes summer entertaining possible, too. Information on Party Ingredients

Thames Luxury Charters

Thames Luxury Charters

Max Banquet 432

2-7 Brewery Square, London, SE1 2LF

The five-strong Thames Luxury Charters fleet celebrates 25 years on the river in 2018. Among its well-maintained vessels are the Elizabethan – a replica of an 1890s, stern-wheeled Mississippi paddle steamer – and the Dixie Queen, which is the biggest floating venue in town. The Edwardian offers guests a more classic British experience, while the three-deck Erasmus is a showcase for chic modernity. All of them can moor at most of the piers in town and just outside, meaning private charters can include time alongside the London Eye, the Tower of London, Maritime Greenwich and more. A long-term partnership with Dish keeps the onboard catering shipshape.

Arch 63, Pedley Street, London, E1 5BW

London’s newest ‘train station’ is a first-class opportunity to bring groups together for some immersive dining and a participatory theatre show. Close to Brick Lane, Pedley Street Station is inside a real railway arch, from where guests board a vintage dining car in which they are dined and entertained at tables of 6-8. Production values are high, with the carriage brought over from Europe specially, and the recently refurbed venue also housing a platform bar and full working kitchen.

Exhibition Road, London, London, SW7 2DD

The events appeal of the Science Museum is obvious. Where else can you dine next to the Apollo 10 command module or mingle under the first plane to cross the Atlantic? Daytime conferences are well catered for in the Imax Theatre. For evening events, we like the Exploring Space gallery with its rockets, satellites and landers. Recent additions include Mathematics: The Winton Gallery and Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery – both bookable for events and private views.Venue review of Making the Modern World at the Science Museum Venue review of Illuminate at the Science Museum Venue review of IMAX at the Science Museum Venue review of Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery at the Science Museum
