Just a few strides from Hackney Wick station you'll find HWK Bar on White Post Lane - a bar and restaurant that cooks up relaxed, sophisticated Mediterranean classics.
HWK Bar is a bright and airy space, strewn with plants and wooden furniture. Head through to the back of the site and you'll find a calm, verdant courtyard where you can sit with a glass of wine and a few sharing plates. In the summer you'll find picnic tables in front of the bar as well, where guests can sit and soak up the last rays of summer sun.
The menu at HWK Bar is designed with sharing in mind. Kick things off with a selection of small bowls like hummus, olive tapenade, and smoked babaganoush (all served with toasted bread), before getting stuck into eclectic Med-plates like bocconcini with purple basil pesto and rocket, crab croquettes with green aioli, sardines in a slow-cooked spicy tomato and red pepper sauce, and grilled artichokes with balsamic reduction and pine nuts. The menu at HWK Bar changes regularly as ingredients come in and out of season, so dishes always champion the freshest ingredients of the moment.
Currently on the dessert menu is a cashew nut blondie, with vanilla ice cream and a honey tequila sauce.
Drinks are an equally important part of the HWK Bar experience. Alongside a selection of wines by the glass, premium spirits and beers (by bottle and by glass), HWK mixes up a few custom cocktails too. Try the Earl Grey Collins (gin, Earl Grey tea syrup, soda and lemon), the Honey Badger (Bullet Rye whiskey, honey water, peach and orange bitters
and Maraschino cherry) or the Belle (citrus gGin, elderfower liqueur, Earl Grey syrup, lemon juice and IPA).
If that sounds like your kind of place, get in touch with the HWK Bar team about Christmas party reservations - the bar is available to hire for festive parties, with food and drink menus available for larger groups.
