Flesh & Buns in Kensington is the restaurant’s third site, following on from Covent Garden and Oxford Circus, where it offers bold Japanese izakaya and Nikkei-inspired dishes amidst neon-lit interiors. Designed to replicate the casual eating and drinking dens in Japan, similar to a British pub or Spanish tapas bar, diners can indulge in a host of (strong) cocktails and an eclectic array of sharing dishes at this modern Japanese restaurant. At its core, Flesh & Buns offers a place for people to relax, feast and enjoy themselves, making it a brilliant spot to host a fun-filled Christmas party.
Thanks to a spacious main dining room as well as two private dining spaces at this Kensington site, Flesh & Buns offers numerous exclusive hire options for groups large and small. If you’re planning a more intimate festive dinner with your nearest and dearest, then the private dining rooms can be hired for up to 16 people each. While larger parties might want to consider hiring the whole restaurant, perhaps for a cocktail reception followed by a sit-down dinner.
The food menu comprises a variety of small and large plates, raw and sushi dishes, poke bowls and rice. Kick off with a few tastebud-tickling smaller plates to whet the appetite, such as Korean fried wings with a spicy sour sauce and sesame, fried squid with yuzu kosho mayo, Japanese pepper, red chilli and lime or beef fat potato chips with huancaina cheese sauce and tomato rocoto. For something a little lighter, choose from a range of sashimi and maki dishes, while large plates include BBQ beef short ribs with a Korean dipping sauce and red onion pickle and miso grilled aubergine with sweet miso, sesame, carrot and cucumber pickle.
The food is only half of the equation though, with the gigantic drinks list sure to inject plenty of sparkle into festive celebrations. Look out for Japanese-inspired cocktails, beers and ciders, wine, sparkling, whisky, sake and more.
