There’s nowhere quite like Soho at Christmas time, and Bar Kroketa is slap bang in the middle. This dinky little pintxo bar is the first of Bar Kroketa’s famous Spanish restaurants, which specialise in a wide variety of indulgent croquetas. Not quite your quintessential Christmas food - but we can’t deny they’re delicious!
This little corner of Soho is best for small-scale Christmas parties - perhaps a work team social or an intimate drinks-led occasion. Inside, a long central bar is the focal point of the restaurant, while high stools and a handful of tables give guests somewhere to rest their legs. Towering shelves of fine wine, vintage knick-knacks and hanging plants give the space a tasteful yet cosy feel. The tight-knit space quickly becomes buzzy when filled with lots of party guests, which makes its concise bar snack menu and array of classic cocktails the perfect fit. Bar Kroketa Soho offers exclusive private hire of the whole restaurant for up to 65 seated guests for dinner, or 80 for standing occasions, like receptions and canape parties.
You can’t attend Bar Kroketa without sampling some of its signature croquetas. These piping hot, bite-sized snacks are a welcome winter warmer of a cold December evening - think black squid ink with aioli, spinach bombons with honey, and chicken with homemade mustard.
If you want to experience Bar Kroketa’s tapas in its fullest, you can also order from a separate small plates menu, which offers fresh seafood, gildas and tostas straight from its kitchen counter. From pulled Iberico beef cheek to Cantabrian anchovies and Guinness chorizo lollipops, there’s plenty to get your taste buds singing.
Since it’s Christmas, you’ll want to pop a bottle of sparkling Spanish wine, and there’s some great blends to choose from. There’s also crisp lager, glasses of orange wine, and a traditional sherry aperitivo to keep everyone happy.
For a jolly knees-up in the beating heart of Soho, Bar Kroketa is an atmospheric spot to sip, snack and dance a Christmas night away.
