Injecting a note of comfortable domesticity into a barn-like warehouse space isn’t the easiest trick to pull off, but if Home lacks the easy familiarity of your own front room it does at least avoid chilly stylishness through its quirky & mismatched selection of furnishings. The odd dash of soy aside, the menu sticks close to Europe, with the likes of seared scallops with butternut squash purée & pancetta or Belgian endive salad with Roquefort ahead of roast free-range chicken with pea & tarragon risotto or basil-crusted halibut with confit tomatoes, courgettes, lemon & chilli compote. Wines range from easy £15 glugging to swankier tipples such as St Emilion premier cru, while cocktails in the basement bar can range from straightforward classics to a strawberry & mint martini. Noise & energy levels – which can be fairly subdued midweek – crank up as the weekend comes in sight.
