Perhaps the designers were having an off day when they ‘reimagined’ this adjunct to the Hilton Green Park, because the result is a curious hybrid of pedestrian suburban pub & dated ‘style’ lounge. Thankfully, it tastes better than it looks. If you fancy a swift G&T, the selection on offer doesn’t disappoint: SW4, Sipsmith & Williams Chase are always worth a detour. Cocktails are also fair: dirty martini, London lemonade & – staying with gin – Singapore sling (all at £7.95) are typical calls from a varied list. To nibble, global fill-ups such as paninis, pizzas, sandwiches, soup, stew, curry & salads do the business for a working lunch, & there’s afternoon tea, too. Wines start at just over £20, & there’s also a mix of multinational lagers.
