If you're a cosmopolitan couple planning an effortlessly cool, laid-back wedding in East London, consider Sune on Broadway Market as the setting for your reception. The vibe here is atmospheric, intimate bolthole: you'd be bringing together your favourite people in a chic, ambient setting with European-inspired small plates and a killer wine menu. It's the kind of concept that weddings are really all about - good food, great company, all in one space.
Sune has a much sought after location in Hackney, surrounded by independents, vintage stores, bookshops. Well connected and in the middle of arguably one of London's coolest neighbourhoods, it's a great spot to draw people from all over London.
Sune offers a full venue takeover for weddings with a capacity of up to 70 people. To make things easy, the team create set group menus and laden tables with a mix of delicious dishes (often with a French nod) starting with bites, small plates and then a few larger ones, too. You can, of course, share your preferences with the kitchen and come up with a menu that works for your celebration - but they tend to be seasonal and draw inspiration from France, Italy and Spain.
For an idea of what to expect, check out the sample group menu online. To kick things off, you might opt in for Maldon oysters and mignonette, before a selection of starters arrive including charred flatbreads and whipped cod’s roe, yurrita anchovies and boquerones, followed by stracciatella with bitter leaves, fennel and blood orange, and finally, wild garlic fritti.
For mains, you might have options such as Tamworth pork chops with apple mustard and grumolo, alongside BBQ whole plaice al pil-pil, or fried potatoes and spring greens. For dessert, currently the team are serving up vanilla panna cotta with rhubarb and blood orange.
Drinks packages can be organised, too. Whether you fancy treating your guests to a welcome drink like a negroni or a glass of champagne, or moving straight onto wine, Sune has a well-curated list of bottles to complement your meal.
