Sune

Where better to host a party than East London's artistic Broadway Market? This on-trend street in Hackney is brimming with bookshops, vintage clothing stores, watering holes and independent eateries - just like Sune.

Sune is a real neighbourhood gem, dishing up European-inspired plates with a distinctly French air in an intimate but well-styled space. The good news? The team here love hosting a good ol' party. As Sune is pretty small - which makes it even more atmospheric - there are a couple of rules around capacity. For example, the largest table that can be booked is for 10 people (with some exceptions made for mid-week dining when things are a little quieter) but if you had your hopes set on a bigger bash, why not take over the entire restaurant?

Whole venue takeovers are welcomed with capacity of up to 70 people. To make things easier, the team have created a selection of set menus to cater for larger groups and can even organise a drinks package with a set price per person to ensure everyone is suitably watered. Depending on your budget, you might opt for a welcome drink for each person such as a negroni spagliato, glass of crémant or champagne, followed by a half bottle of wine. 

When it comes to dining, the example group menu kicks off with a selection of smaller plates such as charred flatbreads and whipped cod’s roe; yurrita anchovies and boquerones; stracciatella, bitter leaves, fennel and blood orange and wild garlic fritti. These are followed by larger plates which guests have the option of choosing, perhaps between tamworth pork chops, apple mustard and grumolo, alongside bbq whole plaice al pil-pil. Finally, for something sweet, a vanilla panna cotta with rhubarb and blood orange rounds things off beautifully.
