Make Christmas an arty affair at the National Army Museum
Yes, immersive is the buzzword for celebrations this Christmas, but this is immersiveness paired with sophistication – an art exhibition as your backdrop.

At the National Army Museum this year, the Alfred Munnings: War Artist, 1918 exhibition is on for the entire festive period (and until March if you’re planning a late Christmas party this year). What a lovely way to also mark the centenary of World War I.

Packages for people between 10 and 50 start at £2,000 for use of a boardroom and 1.5hrs in the Munnings exhibition. From 50 to 150 people, the package increases to £4,000 and for up to 250 people it will be £5,000. The latter two packages include use of the Atrium rather than the boardroom. All packages exclude F&B, but bespoke catering menus will be available soon.

The exhibition features more than 40 original paintings from the renowned English painter’s time with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces during the First World War. Displayed together in England for the first time in a century, these impressionist paintings cover equine subjects, portraiture and pastoral landscapes.

Do you like War Horse? You’ll love Munnings’ paintings then, which highlight the role of horses in military operations by capturing their beauty in the war-torn landscapes of France in 1918.

As an official war artist commissioned by the Canadian War Memorials Fund, Munnings provides an insight into the men of the Canadian Cavalry Brigade and the Canadian Forestry Corps. Often painting less than a mile from the front line, and in full view of the enemy, he shows war horses on the march, at the charge, at work and at rest.
