Top 100 Restaurants Mark Greenaway

Each year SquareMeal asks its readers to vote for their favourite restaurants outside of London. The resulting list of the UK’s top 100 restaurants is unique in debarring worthy inclusions from the capital.

Our aim is to shine a light on the restaurants beyond the M25 that are, quite simply, the best at what they do. That could mean a country-house hotel dining room that’s been a gastro destination for 30 years. Or it might be the newest urban hotshot to shake up a city-centre dining scene.

Thousands of readers, bloggers and local foodies entered, and you can read the list and reviews of the top 100 restaurants – from the Scottish Highlands to the beaches of Cornwall – right here.

For this feature, we’ve distilled that full list to come up with 30 choices that have private-dining facilities or can be hired exclusively.

While a meal at our number one, The Sportsman in Kent, would be an invitation no one could turn down, dinner at any of these restaurants should earn you – and, more importantly, your guests – huge bragging rights. Check them all out below.
