There’s no shortage of fine restaurants in this upscale neighbourhood, but where’s best for groups? We’ve handpicked a few of our favourites
USP Superb seasonal cooking that can be paired with more interactive experiences
Exclusive use 85
Private dining 30, 14, 11, 6
Chef Richard Corrigan put this restaurant on the map with seasonal dishes that celebrate Britain’s natural larder, but it’s the diverse event spaces and add-ons that really make it shine in our eyes. Picture the likes of a chef’s table and cocktail masterclasses.
USP Michelin-starred Indian food in a sophisticated setting
Exclusive use 90
Private dining 25, 14, 9
Inspired by colonial India’s sports clubs, Gymkhana mixes opulence with old school charm. The private vaults are kitted out with red-leather banquette seating and quirky lamps. We particularly like that the menu has a strong focus on chapatti sharing dishes, making it great for groups.
USP Refined Italian feasts from celebrity chef Angela Hartnett
Exclusive use 55
Private dining 12
This Michelin-starred establishment has spawned three offshoots in the capital, but the Mayfair original remains the most impressive. A retractable window in the private dining room allows guests to watch the kitchen brigade at work, before tucking into pasta dishes that dreams are made of.
USP High-end Japanese robatayaki cuisine
Exclusive use 80
Private dining 24, 12
The robata grill in the main restaurant’s open kitchen produces an excellent roll-call of meat, fish and vegetable dishes, but the selection of sushi and sashimi are also a highlight here. Groups keen for extra privacy can opt for the Adzuki room, or the outdoor terrace in summertime.
USP Cool private spaces that put British ingredients centre stage
Exclusive use 70
Private dining 28, 16, 14
We’re big fans of some of the more interesting private spaces here. The walls and ceiling of the chef’s private dining room are plastered in beautiful antique world maps, and the wine shop La Cave can be used for group dinners and tastings. Dishes are simple, letting the very fine ingredients do the talking.
USP A temple to the very best of seafood
Private dining 40
A favourite of many gastronauts for years, Scott’s can be a difficult place to score a table. Luckily though, there’s a large private dining room decked out in the same rich wood and leather as the main restaurant that also serves top-notch seafood. Fresh flowers, place cards, and candles are included with the room hire too.
