On the fifth floor of Ascot Racecourse’s Grandstand is On 5. Launched in 2014, this flagship restaurant is headed-up by two Michelin-starred chef Phil Howard, and takes its name from five key characters in horse racing: the farrier, the trainer, the groom, the saddler and the jockey. It’s quickly become the place to be for fine dining at the famous venue, with executive chef Gemma Astor at the helm. Accessible by a private lift, the bar area is a central feature, with panoramic views that make it an obvious place to open the day with some champagne. A private balcony and roof terrace also keep the final furlongs in good eyeshot. On race days, drinks and afternoon tea packages are among the optional extras.
