The revived Great Northern Hotel has a restaurant to match the sleek looks and smooth service that define the rest of the establishment. Through the day, natural light streams through floor-to-ceiling windows. As dusk approaches, hand-blown glass filaments add warmth as guests settle into handmade furniture that recalls the golden age of rail travel. Opening directly onto King’s Cross station, the hotel is just moments from the Eurostar terminus at St Pancras. Chef Mark Sargeant, an old protégé of Gordon Ramsay’s at Claridge’s, has put together lots of options for three-course Christmas dinners for groups. We particularly like the sound of honey and mustard roasted Suffolk pork belly before a decadent sticky maple, pecan and bourbon pudding.
