Located in the Leith area of Edinburgh in the Ocean Terminal shopping centre, after a day of shopping till you drop or just browsing you’ll likely need something to re-fuel. Enter Wagamama. With a host of pan-Asian delights, why not try one of the curries, ramens or noodle dishes on offer to keep you going for the rest of the day.
It makes sense to go for its most famous and well known dishes so why not try the classic katsu curries with chicken, and if you are vegan or vegetarian there is now a variation on the classic dish with seitan or panko coated aubergine and sweet potato. For something warm and hearty, the ramens are a good option. Go for the miso cod, sirloin beef or chicken as well as many other variations on the noodle soup dish.
To wash all this down opt for one of the many Japanese beers or freshly squeezed juices, and try the interesting side dishes on offer. For example, why not go for the beef tataki, chilli squid or keep things simple with some edamame beans. Order a few different dishes to share so you can get a taste for as many as possible.
The open plan kitchen means that not only is the whole vibe of the restaurant more lively, but you can watch your meal from start to finish, if you aren’t too busy chatting and catching up with friends that is. Great entertainment if you are solo dining though (which Wagamama is a great place for by the way).
To finish off your Japanese feast, go for something off the dessert menu. Combining traditional Asian flavours with, classic desserts we all know and love, go for the white chocolate ginger cheesecake or mango and matcha layer cake. Because there is nothing better than ending a meal with a sweet treat.
