Located on New Briggate in central Leeds, just moments from the Grand Theatre, Chef Jono at V&V is a bold and inventive fine dining restaurant from acclaimed chef Jono Hawthorne. A proud Yorkshireman and MasterChef: The Professionals 2020 contestant, Jono brings over 16 years of culinary experience, having worked in Michelin-starred kitchens including the world-renowned Noma in Denmark. His menus celebrate modern British cooking with a creative, flavour-led approach that’s both refined and playful.
Chef Jono at V&V is found inside a sleek space, featuring a 1920s-style monochromatic dining room complete with a bar decked out in hues of black and gold. The kitchen here champions seasonal ingredients, serving a menu which changes monthly. Chef Jono at V&V's philosophy is to source as many ingredients as possible from local producers, and the kitchen offers both a multi-course tasting menu and regular à la carte.
If you are looking to get the full experience, we would recommend opting for the signature tasting menu. Dishes you might come across include tomato with goat’s cheese, chilli and Yorkshire parkin; potato with parmesan and coffee, or roast pork with vichy carrots, raisin, and crackling. Then the menu will round off with a mushroom tiramisu, but only after a mango, coconut and lime palate cleansing pre-dessert. There's also a cheese selection, available at an additional supplement.
Chef Jono at V&V also offers dedicated vegetarian and vegan menus, so diners who don’t eat meat don’t need to feel left out. On the meat-free version, you can expect to find dishes such as courgette with lychee, peanuts, and coriander and a beetroot tartare. Dining at Chef Jono at V&V isn't just about eating; there's a brilliant European-leaning wine list here, and an optional wine pairing, alongside some fantastic cocktails in case you fancy something fruitier.
