Vegivores in Reading is a vibrant vegetarian restaurant that began as a street food and catering business in 2017 before launching its first bricks-and-mortar site. Passionate about flavour, sustainability and community, the team behind Vegivores is committed to reducing environmental impact across all aspects of the business. From using eco-friendly energy suppliers to building furniture from recycled wood and ensuring all takeaway packaging is fully compostable, every decision is guided by a planet-first mindset.
The menus change seasonally, with a dedicated weekend brunch menu, and main menu options. Expect creative, colourful plates like the ‘Easy Peasy’ loaded toast made with smashed peas, chilli jam and amiga seeds, and chilaquiles rojos with crunchy tortillas, black beans, spiced salsa, avocado and cashew cheese. Pancake options include toppings such as coconut and biscoff crumb, fresh banana, strawberries and blueberries. There’s also a PBJ bowl layered with soy yoghurt, granola, peanut butter sauce and strawberries.
The main menu features small plates such as crispy gnocchi and beetroot hummus and hearty mains like the satay burger, Better Bowl, which combines spiced butter beans, rice, kale, slaw and more, or burritos packed with fresh veggies and house sauces. Vegan comfort food favourites like tiramisu and salted peanut butter tart feature on the dessert menu. Families are well catered for with a thoughtful kids’ menu including banana waffles, Simply Spuds seasoned-free hash, fruit and smoothies.
The space itself is fresh and inviting, with light flooding in through big windows, monochrome tiled floors, whitewashed brick walls, wooden tables and an eye-catching floral ceiling display. There’s outdoor seating too – ideal for warmer days. For feel-good, plant-based dining that doesn’t compromise on flavour or ethics, Vegivores is a local gem.
