About

Taking over the site vacated by Herbal, this boho café/bar – all bare brick, recycled furniture and copper pendant lamps – feels as if it’s an established Shoreditch fixture, not a 2013 newcomer. A kitchen is scheduled to open soon, but for now, the focus is on quality coffees, organic teas, cakes, brownies, savoury snacks and booze. Priced at £7.50, signature cocktails include mizza healer (a Ketel One Citroen vodka and Thai-spiced mule with a chilli kick), nuts and berries (a Chambord, Amaretto, Frangelico and cranberry cream float) and a taste of honey (Santa Teresa rum, honey and lime) – all fair, if not particularly sophisticated shakes. Anticipate live folk and roots music, open-mic nights, quizzes and DJs until 3am at weekends, after which you can always crash at The Dictionary – Shoreditch’s funky new ‘youth hostel’ upstairs.
