The current incarnation of the Ship on the Shore dates from 2007, when new owners re-launched the business as a seafood bistro/pub. Since then it has built a reputation as one of the more
accomplished eateries of its kind, divided up into a bar & dining space, both with wood panelling & nautical features. SOS specialises in Scottish produce & there are several menus,
ranging from breakfast (think smoked Aberdeen haddock with spinach & poached egg) to lunch, dinner & an impressive array of crustacea & molluscs – the fruits de mer royale is quite
remarkable. You can enjoy anything from a quick bowl of mussels & a beer to a full-blown dinner of grilled sardines on toasted sourdough with salsa verde followed by pan-fried halibut with
black pudding mash, savoy cabbage & Mull Cheddar sauce. Desserts are straightforward, but everyone is here for the seafood.
