Grand Villa Heights is a luxury, boutique hotel with 54 stylish bedrooms, an in-house restaurant and incredible views across Yorkshire's famously scenic, Robin Hood Bay. This wow-worthy hotel is often used as a wedding or events venue, but if you're based locally or staying over for the night to enjoy this picturesque area, The Restaurant is the perfect place to unwind, take in the coastal vistas and indulge in the kitchen's interpretation of the best local produce.
The restaurant menu follows a typical format but it's also worth noting that in the summertime, the team are particularly proud of their al fresco offering. Within the beautiful courtyard space, diners will find an outdoor kitchen complete with rotisserie and grill, as well as a wood fired pizza oven, and of course, a fabulous location for cocktails.
The main menu is broken up into sections, beginning with nibbles for the table like house marinated Italian olives and red pepper houmous with warm focaccia, before moving onto sharers like The Grand Villa Platter with a charcuterie selection, house marinated
olives, torn mozzarella, warm focaccia, balsamic and cold-pressed rapeseed oil.
Across starters, guests can enjoy smaller plates such as chicken Yakiniku skewers served with carrot and ginger salad, as well as monkfish pakoras topped with sweet soy and spicy mayo, or the North Sea crab crumpet finished with crab mayonnaise and apple and watercress salad. When it comes to main courses, local and seasonal produce reigns supreme. There's the Northumbrian lamb rump which sounds divine and is served with Emmental potato gratin, asparagus, roasted carrots and red wine jus. While, the North Sea lobster comes grilled in a half or whole, with millionaire's fries, thermidor sauce and a charred lemon. Personally, we'd hold our breath for the catch of the day, which comes straight from the market and is grilled simply to highlight its natural flavour.
