Situated at the very top of The Dolls House club, with views across Hoxton Square, this extended pop-up is the brainchild of promoter George Craig and chef Terry Edwards (aka Check On). Billed as an ‘indoor picnic conservatory’, the room has been done out in striking style with black-and-white zigzag patterns on the tablecloths, a huge dresser, florid trompe l’oeil motifs on the walks and light from myriad candles. The menu is all about seasonal sharing plates – from wild mushrooms with fried duck egg and ramson-buttered ‘soldiers’ to blowtorched Cornish mackerel with beets and pickled cucumber or Hackney black pudding with cauliflower, charred endive, crumble and mustard oil. To finish, perhaps consider a strawberry and Champagne dessert pot. The Pearl will run until early 2015, or until The Dolls House is closed down for development.
