The Old Fishmarket by Sankey's, which is located in the charming Old Fishmarket building in the heart of the Pantiles, is one of the town’s most popular haunts for foodies. You’ll find an impressive selection of Champagne and sparkling wines from around the world while having the chance to enjoy the finest of British seafood.
You’ll also find a dedicated oyster menu, showcasing raw oysters from different parts of the British Isles, from Whitstable rock and native oysters to varieties from Lindisfarne and Carlingford. There’s also a selection of dressed oysters, topped with Bloody Mary, fresh cucumber, French pickle, and avocado and lemon. Plus, the Old Fishmarket by Sankey’s menu offers a small group of cooked oysters, like the ‘Le Ruth’ with crab, prawn and parmesan; ‘Kilpatrick’ with pancetta and Worcestershire butter, and the Rockefeller with three-herb butter.
The main menu, meanwhile, divided into small plates, large plates, platters, and sides, offers a range of crab and lobster dishes sourced fresh from Cornwall’s Cadgwith Cove. Depending on what is brought in fresh from the seas and rivers, small plates have included garlic and chilli crevettes, mussel and clam chowder, and trout rillette with avocado, lemon, dill, and crispy capers. As for the larger plates, think Dover sole meuniere, Cornish lobster linguine, and skate wing in a caper beurre noisette.
That’s not all, alongside a set lunch deal, The Old Fishmarket by Sankey's is known for its seafood platters on ice. The house platter is the most popular, offering up crevettes, mussels clams, Greenland prawns, and devilled anchovies. There’s also the chance to add a dressed crab to the plate, or a whole lobster and four oysters. Alternatively, guests can build their own, picking the seafood that most appeals, whether that be crab, prawns, anchovies, or lobster.
