About

You’ll find Canvas tucked away on Vale Road, a stone’s throw from Tunbridge Wells train station and right in the heart of the town. With parking directly opposite in the Torrington car park and just a short walk from the famous Pantiles, Canvas is perfectly positioned for anyone visiting Tunbridge Wells.

Canvas offers a sophisticated setting for all occasions. Inside, the restaurant is split across two levels, with the main dining room seated on a mezzanine as you enter. This space features exposed brick walls and wooden furnishings, with large windows that help flood the space with natural light.

Dishes here are built on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, with a genuine focus on sustainability and reduced wastage. A lunch set menu invites diners to enjoy two or three courses, with starters such as smoked mackerel with gooseberry and elderflower compote, or charred courgette and feta salad served with broad beans and mint. Moving onto mains, guests can expect the likes of crispy pork belly with fennel and apple slaw, pan-roasted monkfish with charlotte potatoes and peppercorn sauce or pomme boulangere with wild mushrooms. Guests can also opt to upgrade their lunch to include a carafe of wine.

Dinner menus come with a similar offering, with alternate dishes such as bang bang chicken with cucumber, peanut and sesame to start, followed by Tandoori monkfish, which arrive with spiced lentils and raita. Desserts are particularly indulgent, think pavlova with passionfruit, mango and pineapple, or a chocolate semifreddo topped with a chocolate crumb and served with a scoop of cherry sorbet.

The wine list is equally considered, with an extensive selection of reds, whites and roses available by the glass or by the bottle. The team also runs occasional tasting menu collaborations with wine and Champagne producers, so be sure to keep an eye out for any upcoming events.
