Inside, The Koyla seamlessly blends a rustic and contemporary feel, think exposed brick walls and wooden beams that hang overhead, whilst leather booths and white-clothed tables fill the room. An overhead skylight ensures the restaurant is flooded with natural light during the day, whilst the room buzzes with gentle chatter and a candlelit glow each evening.
The menu at The Koyla showcases a variety of Nepalese and Asian dishes, boasting traditional flavours and modern culinary techniques. Starters include options like homemade Nepalese pork or chicken dumplings (Momo) served with tomato jam, mixed nuts sauce, and chilli oil, as well as duck breast in Choila marination accompanied by chard leeks and beetroot puree.
For mains, guests can choose from charcoal-grilled dishes such as tandoori chicken with chukauni, garlic sauce and red onion salad, or short ribs in a pepper sauce with buckwheat dumplings and pakchoi. The menu also features Nepalese-influenced curries, including the pork belly vindaloo with sweet corn, saag, and pilau rice, or other mains such as poleko salmon in a spicy buttermilk sauce, or jumbo king prawns cooked in mustard seeds, coconut, and green chilli with a mailee sauce. The Koyla has a couple of signature plates on offer, so guests can tuck into indulgent biryanis, available with chicken, lamb, goat or veg, or opt for the Nepali Thali set, boasting a selection of small dishes and sides, alongside your curry of choice.
