Nice wallpaper, shame about the food

A party of four of us went for an early evening meal to try the £19 menu and for drinks. The French onion soup is good but it is a child’s portion. The Shepherd’s Pie, served with no vegetables, tasted like a microwaved Asda ready meal and nobody finished it. Our diner who ordered Sea Bream, again served without vegetables, ate half and left the rest. The chips, another child’s portion, were good and that was an extra £6. The dessert was a chocolate bomba with ice cream inside surrounded by some kind of foam. The waiter then pours hot caramel sauce over it melting the chocolate and ice cream leaving a bowl of inedible sugary slop. There is an additional service charge of £2.95 to have the waiter ruin your dessert in this way. The Kir Royals, at £10 each, were fine. A £50 bottle of Viognier was completely unremarkable and the pressure to order a second bottle bordered on the positively indecent. If you enjoy shouting to your fellow diners over pulsating music this is the place for you. The wallpaper is lovely though.
