After four years operating the London-based Fox & Grapes and The Malt House, Cedric Bosi has moved his family back to Ludlow – where his Michelin-starred brother Claude ran the
original incarnation of Mayfair grandee Hibiscus. Located by the iconic Ludford Bridge, just outside the town
centre, The Charlton Arms is a comfortable inn with a growing reputation for upscale food based on the region’s best produce. Beef from the Marches figures in an assortment of char-grilled steaks
and burgers, rump of Welsh lamb might be served with white beans, chorizo, mint and coriander, while roasted pork belly gets robust accompaniments in the shape of bubble ‘n’ squeak, stuffed apple
and Herefordshire cider sauce. Meanwhile, fish and chips, Cumberland sausages and treacle tart please the die-hards, and there are plenty of real ales for the drinkers.
