Shocking Birthday Meal

I had booked the Anchor at Nayland for my mother's birthday, based on previous positive dining experiences had. However, the experience had for the birthday meal was appalling. Left to wait outside in the cool evening for 10 minutes, I ventured in to find someone to check us in. Not a great start! Once seated, at a very sticky table, we were given menus to peruse. 9nce we had decided our meals, we were then told that there was minimal options on the menu as the day had been busy. We were pretty much left with fish or burger options.
The starter was pleasant, and I'd hoped the earlier experience of being left to wait on arrival has been quashed. Sadly not the case.
Our waitress proceeded to offer us the dessert menu after our starter. Puzzled, we advised the waitress we normally have a main before dessert.
Whilst waiting for the mains, we were then told that our orders of burger would not be as depicted in the menu, as the pulled pork was not available due to an accident in the kitchen.
The burgers arrived....on one order wrong.
We were offered sides as an extra to make up for the pulled pork incident, however this is not what we wanted.
The burgers were dry, tastless, clearly the last hot plate options before the pub was due to close.
Waiting staff hovered, as clearly wanted to close up, making us feel rushed.
The majority of us didn't eat the full meal due to poor quality and taste, so much so, staying for a dessert was out of the question.
I addressee the issues with the young gentleman at the bar, expressing that if I wanted burger and chips, I'd have taken my mother and family for a meal at McDonald's. To compensate, a mere £10 reduced from the bill, which for a meal of 5 starters and burger and chips came to £110!
Management need to consider their menu, Management of how to meet bookings and how to deliver customer service.
Will not be coming here again...and would advise many others not to for a special occasion.
