The View Restaurant at All Saints Resort sits just beyond the centre of Bury St Edmunds, offering a quieter perspective on Suffolk without feeling totally remote. The resort itself is positioned as an easy escape. It's just close enough for a short break, yet far enough removed to feel like you're unplugging from daily life. With countryside surroundings, a golf course stretching out beyond the windows and facilities that range from spa to pool, it works as both a base for exploring and a destination in its own right.
Within that setting, The View Bar and Restaurant is a recently refurbished dining room oriented towards wow-worthy panoramic views across the Suffolk golf course. There's also a terrace that provides an option for al fresco dining when the weather allows. It’s a space that suits a range of occasions, from a relaxed evening meal to something more celebratory, with the flexibility to accommodate larger gatherings in its private Portrait room.
The menu is all about celebrating seasonal produce sourced from across East Anglia, beginning with nibbles for the table like tempura pickles with madras aioli alongside smoked cheddar croquettes with honey and chives. Moving onto starters, you could get stuck into pork and hazelnut terrine served alongside soda bread and chutney, or a coffee-baked beetroot tart paired with feta and onion jam.
As for mains, there's options across meat, fish and vegetable-based plates, but we like the sound of the roast chicken leg which comes with roasted cauliflower, hasselback potatoes and a chicken cream sauce. If you're not sure what to go with, you can't get it wrong with the View burger which combines Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, house sauce and slaw. And, for something lighter, pan-fried cod is served with a turnip and butterbean fricassee and a note of seaweed.
Desserts are gorgeously indulgent with pistachio parfait and poached blackberries, or a chocolate mousse accompanied by orange marmalade and sorbet. To top it off, the wine list draws from a global selection of sparkling, rosé, red and white bottles, offering enough variety to suit the menu.
