SquareMeal Review of St Moritz

It’s not just for wintertime, but old-timer St Moritz sure does warm the cockles, with its accordion music, little wooden chairs & actual beef stroganoff. Its ‘twee’ appeal & cauldrons of attractively priced fondues make it ‘a great place for a get-together with friends’, though its popularity means service can fray at busy times. Try to get a table upstairs, & make the most of the Swiss wine list: to go with any of the five kinds of bubbling cheesy stuff, there’s Fendant de Sion at £16.10 (£9.65 a carafe); if you like Riesling, try the Heida du Valais (£30.65). Bratwurst with rösti is popular at lunchtime, & expats come for slices of veal lathered with cream & mushroom zurichoise sauce. To round things off, chocolate fondue is always a good idea.

Tasteless fondue and disappointing experience

FOOD HYGENE 2 (just found out)

Do yourself a favour and stay away from this place. So many amazing places for cheese fondue in London and this is not one of

Them

TOMATO CHEESE FONDUE? Please read the menu carefully. Additionally was tasteless The only thing we could taste was the tomato

Only 2 wines by the glass and the Swiss house wine is disgusting and tasted like it’s been diluted with water

Manager was least accommodating. Literally arguing and debating with us, yet no apologising, don’t think they ever heard of the saying: “customer is always right”. And don’t argue with the customer

due to their confusing menu double melted tomato with cheese we wanted To change the dish. The waitress immediately proceeded to say “ but you have to pay for this”. Food presentation was below average ( literally canteen plates)

All in all very disappointing place. Go spend your money somewhere else as they don’t deserve your money

I've been coming here for years. Despite my lactose intolerance it's still one of the best digs in town. Cosy, warm, cheesy. Feels like home (if you are the old woman who lives in a shoe!).

St Moritz is the perfect way to banish those winter blues – a twee restaurant on Wardour street split over two floors , decked out Alpine style and dishing out some of the best Fondue in London (of which there isn’t enough). The seating downstairs is a bit cramped and the table next to the main door should be avoided, particularly at Winter. When booking (only by telephone or fax?) , do ask for a table upstairs which is much more comfortable. True, the service can be a little brusque occasionally, but the restaurant is small, very popular and inexpensive so I guess that goes with the territory. A great place for a get together with friends and polish off a cauldron of bubbling cheese and a few bottles.

St Moritz is a lovely, quaint restaurant on Wardour Street. The staff are helpful, but don't fuss too much and in all the times I've been there (which is a fair few), I have never felt under pressure to return the table. I tend to go there about 3-4 times a year, and have never had any problems with the food. The fondue is better than anything I have tasted abroad.

Very poor service!!! They yelled at their customers if they dont return the table in 2 hours. They literally kick them out of the restaurant and keep yelling!! Absolutely unnecessary and will never return again!!!
