Scenery is a neighbourhood cafe in Southwark where speciality coffee and seasonal cooking take centre stage. Housed in a converted Victorian building, it’s open for breakfast, brunch and lunch, with a working coffee roastery and kitchen sharing the same light-filled space. During the week it’s a popular spot for an early coffee or relaxed lunch, while weekends bring an all-day brunch menu accompanied by cocktails.
Coffee is central to the experience, with house espresso and batch brew available alongside a seasonally rotating selection of pour overs and single-origin espressos that changes as new coffees arrive. Weekday menus move from breakfast into a selection of seasonal small plates for lunch, before giving way to an all-day brunch menu at weekends.
Lunch dishes include grilled cheese toasties, Serrano ham with pear vinaigrette and almonds, winter tomatoes with basil, purple sprouting broccoli tempura, cannellini beans with charred cabbage and white miso, and omelettes with wine and shiitake mushrooms. At weekends, the brunch menu features Turkish eggs, breakfast rolls, sweetcorn fritters with avocado, miso mushrooms on toast, steak, eggs and chimichurri, French toast and house granola, with hash browns and smashed avocado available on the side.
From the street, Scenery keeps a low profile, marked only by a simple white logo on the brickwork. Inside, the cafe opens into a bright conservatory-style space beneath a glass roof, where wooden panelling, industrial pendant lights and simple timber furniture create a calm, understated setting that lets the food and coffee do the talking.
Alongside its specialty coffee, Scenery serves fizz, wines, beers and soft drinks throughout the day, while cocktails appear on the menu during weekend brunch, giving diners plenty of choice whatever time they visit.
