Just a stone's throw from the Blackpool coast, Sapori Ristorante is owned, managed and run by Ignazio Maniscalco and Vincenzo Papa. The duo have over 30 years of experience in working and managing Italian restaurants, skills as traditional Italian chefs and have worked at some highly regarded restaurants.
To begin, try the whole mushrooms filled with a mixture of garlic, breadcrumbs, parmesan, white wine and Italian herbs, baked in a tomato sauce and topped with a creamy béchamel, or the fresh squid rings tossed in seasoned flour, fried until golden and served with a sweet chilli sauce. A traditional Italian starter of prosciutto with mozzarella also features on the menu, made with baby mozzarella wrapped in parma ham and baked in the oven, drizzled with the chef’s own basil pesto.
For something super hearty and warming, order the bowl of steaming mussels cooked in a light tomato sauce with garlic, parsley and white wine, topped with crostini. There’s a pretty long list of pasta dishes to choose from, including a bit of an unusual spaghetti carbonara tossed in bacon, onion, cream and parmesan finished with a fresh egg yolk. The agnolotti all' aragosta is pasta stuffed with lobster served in a white wine, cream, cherry tomato and tarragon sauce, and there's also a creamy risotto dish cooked with white wine, prawns, courgettes, garlic and cherry tomatoes.
If you prefer pizza over pasta, try one of the specials, like the signature Sapori with buffalo mozzarella, sundried tomato and smoked bacon, topped with rocket. The pollo is topped with mozzarella, tomato, chargrilled chicken, mushrooms and onions, and seafood lovers will enjoy the pescatore with king prawns, mussels, squid and prawns. To go alongside the main menu, there’s a lovely long wine list, a great selection of cocktails, and plenty of homemade desserts.
