Looking for authentic Thai food in the heart of York? Rosa’s Thai York brings bold Bangkok flavours and comforting classics to North Yorkshire. Located in a historic building near the city centre, this stylish all-day restaurant is part of the popular Rosa’s Thai group, founded by Saiphin Moore, who grew up cooking with her grandmother in northern Thailand before moving to London and launching her own Thai café.
The York branch features deep red panelled walls, dark wooden tables, whitewashed brick, original timber beams and exposed brickwork, paired with modern touches like lacquered tiling and globe lights. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with booth seating inside and an enclosed courtyard for alfresco dining in warmer months.
Open daily for lunch and dinner, Rosa’s serves a varied menu that balances punchy spice with home-style comfort. Small plates include crispy prawn doughnuts (tod mung goong), chargrilled pork skewers (moo ping), crispy chilli mushrooms, and Thai calamari. For mains, guests can enjoy comforting bowls of pad Thai and pad see ew, aromatic green or red curry, or a rich, slow-cooked massaman with tender beef. Other highlights include tiger prawn curry, stir-fried morning glory and the signature crying tiger sirloin steak with spicy jaew sauce. There’s also a selection of rice and noodle dishes, plus classic sides like coconut rice and flaky roti.
Guests can tailor the heat of most dishes from mild to fiery Thai spicy, and the menu offers plenty of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. Rosa’s Thai York is perfect for date nights, group dinners, and special celebrations.
