Set in the stunning Dart Valley in South Devon, ROAM is the restaurant situated on the Sandridge Barton estate - home of Sharpham Wines. Just a short drive from Totnes, this countryside gem blends rustic charm with bold, seasonal cooking in a relaxed setting.
Led by local hospitality veteran Ian Alexander, ROAM is all about honest, thoughtful food that celebrates the land around it. The menu changes regularly and is built around what’s fresh and local - think estate-reared meat, veg from the kitchen garden, and ingredients foraged or sourced from nearby regenerative farms. Head Chef Sean Blood brings a bistro-style flair with influences from European and Basque cuisine, creating dishes that are both comforting and creative.
The space itself is warm and inviting, with natural light, pale timber, and weathered textures that reflect the laid-back pace of the countryside. Out front, service is led by Miles Tuddenham (formerly of Noble Rot and Planque), who brings a relaxed but polished touch to the experience.
ROAM is open for lunch seven days a week. There’s also a guest chef residency programme in the works, promising fresh ideas and exciting collaborations throughout the seasons. And of course, being part of Sandridge Barton, there’s no shortage of award-winning English wines to enjoy alongside your meal - all made just a stone’s throw from your table. If you're really keen on your wines, Sandridge Barton also does excellent tours of the estate and tasting sessions, and you can buy bottles of Sharpham's award-winning wines on-site.
Whether you’re a local or visiting the South Hams, ROAM is a must-visit for anyone who loves great food, great wine, and a proper countryside escape.
