Outlaw's Guest House and Bistro is an independent, boutique hotel in North Cornwall with wow-worthy views of Port Isaac bay and beyond. The in-house bistro makes the most of the area's incredible produce, serving up a seasonal, local menu focused around Cornish seafood, high quality meat and game.
Thanks to the seasonal nature of the cooking here, dishes constantly ebb and flow according to what's fresh and in season. However, for a taste of what to expect, starters might include St Enodoc asparagus with chive beurre blanc; baked oysters with parsley, lemon and roasted garlic butter; followed by cured venison with beetroot, parmesan, hazelnuts and a mustard dressing.
Across the main course, freshly-caught fish takes the lead with dishes like grilled hake served with crab potatoes, spring onions, basil and saffron aioli, alongside Tandoori monkfish, spiced lentils, Kachumber salad and coriander yoghurt, and bass with confit potato, bacon, mushroom and green sauce. If a meat-based plate is what you're after though, keep an eye out for dishes like paprika roast chicken with beans, ham, and roasted red pepper relish.
As for dessert, expect seasonal takes like new season rhubarb mess, as well as something more indulgent such as vanilla ice cream with butterscotch sauce and almonds. There's also always a cheese offering which at the time of writing includes Perl Las from Wales and soft Tunworth from Hampshire.
On Sundays, Outlaw's Guest House and Bistro is the place to be for a wholesome roast lunch with options like rump cap of beef, roasted chicken and roasted monkfish, served with all the trimmings from Yorkshire puddings to wild garlic stuffing.
If you're staying in one of Outlaw's lovely nine bedrooms you're welcome to enjoy the terrace which is especially gorgeous in the summer months, otherwise outdoor spaces are reserved for guests with a food booking only.
