Located on Glossop Road in Sheffield, Restaurant Elm is the formal arm of Elm, which is a coffee shop by day, tasting restaurant by night. The concept of Restaurant Elm revolves around seasonal tasting menu dining, matched with a list of fantastic natural and low-intervention wines.
There are two menu options, either four or seven courses long, each offering a combination of dishes using British produce. Although the Restaurant Elm menus regularly change to reflect available and in season, we can give you a taste of what you can expect to find. You may begin with treacle bread and cultured butter, followed by fermented spent grains with Chatsworth gold and celeriac porridge, topped with chive, crispy celeriac and nori. Next up, it's the Isle of Wight tomato salad with whipped goat cheese, lovage, tomato ponzu, with fresh herbs and roasted yeast. Then, you might expect to see the likes of kombu cured glazed chalk stream trout with roasted sesame, citrus ponzu, broccoli puree and radish.
Elsewhere, dishes include Derbyshire lamb loin with braised lamb shoulder, potato dauphine, Jerusalem artichoke, asparagus and lamb jus. Before sweet courses, you'll be served a cheese scone with Sheffield honey and Baron Bigod, followed by an unusual yet delicious artichoke ice cream with coffee oil and dark chocolate. The final course is a gorgeously indulgent banana parfait, with banana crumb, meringue, dulce de leche, roasted banana skin oil and dark chocolate.
Restaurant Elm also offers a vegetarian set menu, with braised hen of the wood and a vegetable jus and charred tenderstem broccoli with smoked almonds and a citrus ponzu dressing. By day, this spot also functions as a bottle shop, so you can guarantee the team here knows a thing or two about wine recommendations.
