About Randall & Aubin

Launched in 1996 on Brewer Street in Soho, Randall & Aubin is an Anglo/French Brasserie that specialises in seafood and has been delighting foodies, fans and celebrities for the past twenty years - all of whom come looking for an outstanding meal and a fabulous time beneath the glittering disco ball. Relaxed, fun and approachably luxurious, this is a place where lobster and steak are served with a side of good humour and a wink as sparkling as the champagne.

Co-owners Jamie Poulton and accomplished Head Chef Ed Baines share a huge passion for quality ingredients and sustainability, meaning that everything on the Randall & Aubin menu shines with an honest love for creating and cooking exceptional dishes. Since the food is inspired by French and British classics, Moules mariner and French onion soup are always firm favourites, as is the hand-picked Devon crab and the sensational rotisserie chicken that sends its scent of roasting golden meat throughout the restaurant. Add to this the daily specials that are inspired by seasonal produce using local suppliers, and you can be sure of an ever-changing and exciting menu. Every dish is served with more than just a smile, but with real warmth, joviality and enthusiasm that has guests coming back time and time again. Service is accompanied by a lively soundtrack of eclectic music that is an integral part of the restaurant's buzzing, effervescent ambience.

With its marble topped bar height shared tables, loud chatter and peels of laughter are common - from patrons and staff alike. From its roots as a Victorian butchers shop to finding itself at the epicentre of London's gay scene and now to Soho's gentrification, Randall & Aubin have always embraced the old and the new; 18th century chandeliers from Paris share ceiling space with a giant, glittering disco ball, which so perfectly reflects the fun-loving, lighthearted atmosphere that makes Randall & Aubin such a unique dining experience.

Buzzy atmosphere. Enjoyed the food- Whitebait followed by Bouillabaisse/ Tuna. Friendly service but not very attentive

How to be happy
Randall and Aubin provided a wonderfully boisterous oasis on an otherwise damp, dark and gloomy Thursday evening. It's a restaurant that I have been to quite a few times times before, but last year seemed to have gone off the boil somewhat. Last night reminded me of it's charm, elegance and why it is wonderful. Along with warm and friendly but not intrusive service, the dining room has always charmed me. The tiled walls and high seats add to the chitter chatter noise that rises past the electric music. Laughter rings out as the Soho regulars seem happy with their lot. And why wouldn't you be happy? My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful plate of grilled scallops with pancetta, and crab cakes to start (approx. £9 each). For mains a very nice sea bass and a chargrilled squid which was slightly smokey and beautiful (£18/21) followed by a couple of decadent little deserts. All this was washed down with a lovely Viognier (£29) from a decent and cheery wine list. It is not a cheap mid week supper, but Randall and Aubin appears to back at the top of its game. It is just a really lovely place to be, and I will not be waiting so long before another trip back.

Two of us walked in on a busy night, we were accommodated immediately. The service was excellent, crisp and friendly without being intruding. The food was outstanding- pan fried scallops were delicious and a sea bass with vegetables. A bottle of Chilean Tierra Antica was a reasonable £21 and very good value for money. The patrons were young and attractive, dancing under the disco ball. My only complaint is the music was too loud and sometimes made conversation difficult. Other than that, we will be back soon.

Spent a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon drinking Randall and Aubin's own label champagne, and trying everything the Plat de Fruits de Mer had to offer. The service is unfussy but helpful. It's a restaurant where the food is the star – and how often is that the case in this day and age. We loved the the decor – you can see the place as a butcher's shop, whilst the high tables lend the restaurant its own style. The only thing you must do whilst there – try the sticky date pudding. Even if you think you can't manage another thing. Trust me, your life will be the poorer for not at least having one mouthful.

From lining up outside to actually getting a seat can take a while, however it is a good chance to soak up the atmosphere, have a drink and watch the chefs at work! Seated by the window watching the world go by and tucking into a lovely half cray and some super prawns with a bottle of very good NZ Sauvignon Blanc is what heaven will hopefully be like. This is one of the best seafood places with absolutely no pretention. A fun place to be with great service and fantastic food. Love it.

We're from San Francisco and come to London frequently and are alway in search of great fish and chips. We've now found the place. It's really a small fish restaurtant with a pub like feel and with an excellent broad menu of very fresh cooked and raw choices. We started with 12 Fin de Claire oysters; super fresh, super cold with the juice left in the shell. The fish and chips followed. Both were very crisp but the batter on the fish, unlike other places, was very light and the oil was very fresh. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The experience was well worth discounting the location being across from a sex shop.
