Prana Indian Restaurant is an award-winning restaurant located in the heart of Cambridge. The menu blends traditional Indian curries and tandoori dishes with modern regional twists.
Just a five-minute walk from the railway station, it’s nestled within the bustling, multicultural Mill Road district - a vibrant area known for its wide range of independent cafés, delis and world cuisines. Occupying a prominent corner plot, Prana offers a bright, contemporary dining room with elegant décor and spacious seating. Its modern, airy setting features crisp linens and tasteful finishes, reflecting its status as one of Cambridge’s top neighbourhood dining destinations.
Since opening in 2016 under the guidance of Kobir Ahmed, Prana has earned multiple accolades, including ‘best fine dining Indian restaurant in Cambridgeshire’ at the TMMICA Awards and Lux Life Awards. Signature highlights include chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, the indulgent royal nawab lamb shank, Goan fish curry, chilli sea bass and the famously tender sikandari lamb (marinated for 48 hours). Prana is celebrated for its inclusive menu - vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options abound, all prepared without compromise on flavour or authenticity. A dedicated breakfast and brunch offering, introduced in April 2024, features hearty Indian-style Thali breakfasts, Desi omelettes, Bombay toast and Karak chai - often served with a buy-one-get-one-free deal. The restaurant prioritises sustainability, using locally sourced, Halal-certified meats and fresh herbs, and making its own spice blends and sauces from scratch.
Well-regarded by locals, Prana serves both dine-in and takeaway customers, including Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo, operating in delivery zones across Mill Road and beyond. With space for private events and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Prana is ideal for both casual meals and special occasions shared amongst friends and family.
