Named after the Saxon appellation for Battersea, this smart hotel & dining room opened in 2010; it is currently for sale but continues to trade as usual. The kitchen matches its cooking to the intended clientele: the wealthy users of Battersea Heliport. Don’t expect anything too cutting edge (this is fat-cat land rather than a fashion statement); instead, you’ll find posh brasserie food – the likes of lobster thermidor, chicken Caesar salad, & pork belly with red cabbage – properly cooked, nicely served & decently portioned. Well-priced set meals, or the Sunday brunch (perhaps curried cauliflower soup, followed by roast sirloin then dark chocolate, poached pear & hazelnut salad), offer a more affordable way to dine. The modern, rather grand restaurant provides panoramic views of all those whirlybirds doing their thing outside.
