Nestled in Nottingham’s bustling city centre, Paris Bar and Restaurant is an upscale French restaurant with bundles of character. The interiors are decorated with cherry blossom all over, as well as elegant lighting fixtures and Parisian murals, in order to instantly transport you to the city of lights. The kitchen is headed up by executive chef James Crossman, who has previously worked at Claridges and a Michelin-starred restaurant in Cannes, so diners can count on receiving authentically French fare throughout their meal.
In true French spirit, there is a very reasonably priced prix fixe menu of two or three courses. Available any time except Saturday evenings, the selection starts with entrees like roasted langoustine with bisque, rouille and baguette or wood pigeon with stilton fritters, pickled walnuts, apple batons and compressed grapes. The main courses, meanwhile, feature modern French staples, like roasted duck breast with celeriac gratin and grilled chicory or pan-fried seabass with chickpeas, chorizo and red peppers. Finally, prix fixe desserts include the likes of iced honey parfait with toasted almonds and cinnamon tuille or vanilla panna cotta with granola clusters and raspberry sorbet.
The full a la carte selection, however, is considerably larger. Before entrees, diners can enjoy petits plats such as crispy pork skin with brandy apple sauce or olive tapenade with focaccia, olive oil and aged balsamic. The entrees, meanwhile, include some more lavish options like brandy cured salmon, hand-dived scallops or steak tartare. The main courses have also been bolstered with more extravagant entries, here including venison loin, poached halibut or a range of steaks with triple-cooked chips or fries. Diners can also add truffle or parmesan for a final flourish of decadence. Finish with the likes of a white chocolate bavarois with pistachio sponge and chocolate cremeux or selection of regional French cheeses, accompanied by chutney and crackers.
