Get your Italian on with a trip to Piccolino in Nottingham, located on Weekday Cross. This restaurant is everything that we love about Italian cuisine, with its chic design, a welcoming open kitchen, well stocked cocktail bar, fantastic menu, and alfresco dining terrace in the square. The restaurant is open weeklong, from midday until late, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the Piccolino experience.
The antipasti menu features classic bruschetta with prawns, delicious balls of saffron, pea risotto and ve-duja arancini, and crispy fried squid with chilli and lemon mayonnaise. There are also pan seared king scallops with salmoriglio sauce, creamed potatoes, garlic spinach and crispy breadcrumbs, and sashimi grade tuna tartare with fennel, chives, olive tapenade and crisp Sardinian flatbread. Ligouri Pastificio supplies the restaurant's pasta, made from 100% Italian durum wheat from Puglia and the spring waters of Gragnano. There are options of slow cooked tagliatelle bolognese, a garlic and chilli spaghetti, and seafood lovers heaven with spaghetti tossed in wild red king prawns, Scottish rope grown mussels, Palourde clams, calamari, tomato and chilli.
The restaurant's 25th anniversary masterpiece features on the menu, too, with 25 layers of slow cooked wagyu beef, truffle, bechamel, tomato and fresh basil. If steak is your thing, you'll be pleased to learn that Piccolino certainly knows a thing or two about how to cook a great one. Using meats from some of the best producers in Italy, the British Isles, Australia and Argentina, with options of sirloin, fillet, ribeye and grain fed ribeye. As for the sharing cuts, there is a chateaubriand and bistecca alla fiorentina, which are paired beautifully with peppercorn and truffle butter sauces, gorgonzola and salsa verde.
