Paradise Café is located at Daleside Nurseries in Harrogate, and isn't your average restaurant. Instead, this beautiful yet simplistic venue, with a botanical interior, will blow your mind away, and set it apart from other eateries in the area. The kitchen is at the helm of Frances and Roger, who love to cook with seasonal, local and fresh ingredients. The menus change as frequently as what’s best in season does, but you can always expect to find luxurious breakfasts, flavoursome classics and delicious puddings on the menu.
For breakfast, enjoy a glass of Bucks Fizz, followed by poached egg benedict, avocado and parma ham on paradise toast, or a hash brown topped with baked field mushrooms and leek, mixed leaves, and a cashew and thyme dressing. The smoked salmon kedgeree has seen an upgrade with Yorkshire feta and shrimp, and there's also a salty-sweet treat dish of pancakes with bacon and maple.
The Paradise Café at Daleside includes starters and small plates of fresh tuna cake with chorizo, pickled peppers, tomato oil and caesar, a hot cheese tart with Yorkshire dried ham, caramelised onion and apples with mixed leaves, and a plate of Paradise game sausage with apples, blackberries and shallots. Main dishes may include lime and ginger scallops with artichoke, watercress, potato and lime, a delicious lentil pancake with spiced cauliflower, grilled vegetables, feta and olive, and slow cooked lamb, tomato, beans and greens gnocchi. If you never turn down cheese, don't skip the plate of British cheeses with biscuits and quince, which contains Baron Bigod, Ashcombe, Yorkshire Blue and Stonebeck Down. For dessert, try the gin and redcurrant sorbet with berries, plum and almond tart, or Paradise vanilla ice cream with mango sorbet, praline and chocolate sauce.
