Ole Ole Tapas Bar & Restaurant is a family-run Spanish tapas venue tucked into The Lawns complex on Union Road, Lincoln. The restaurant extends a warm, authentic slice of Spain with genuine hospitality and vibrant service.
Located just behind Lincoln’s Medieval Castle in the historic Bailgate quarter, Ole Ole launched in summer 2013 by Lanzarote-born couple Amador and Alison Abruneiras. Set within a spacious, sympathetically converted building - much larger than their previous Bailgate site - Ole Ole offers casual dining for families, couples and groups in a lively, colourful atmosphere. Interiors feature recycled furnishings and restored trinkets sourced locally, with a snug bar and outdoor terrace overlooking the castle grounds.
The menu is firmly rooted in traditional Spanish cuisine, with signature dishes that include patatas bravas, croquetas de jamón ibérico, slow-cooked Spanish brown lentils, chorizo in wine sauce, Spanish omelette, and fresh sea-bass with Canarian mojo verde. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options abound, including paella vegetariana, oven-baked cauliflower, roasted vegetable croquetas, and vegan ali-oli potatoes. Specials such as croquetas al queso de cabra and costillar con chimichurri rotate weekly.
Service runs daily and there’s a well-stocked wine and beer list, as well as cocktails and soft drinks. This vibrant spot garners praise for its authentic flavours, generous portions, attentive staff and lively atmosphere, often highlighted by enthusiastic Spanish ‘olé!’ calls from the owner amid a warm crowd. The restaurant often features live flamenco performances, creating a truly immersive Spanish experience. The music and dance, paired with sangria and sharing plates, make Ole Ole a popular spot for celebrations and group bookings.
Set in Lincoln’s picturesque Bailgate area - with its medieval castle, cathedral and quaint boutiques - Ole Ole Tapas offers a lively, colourful and flavoursome dining experience that feels like a holiday in Spain, right in the heart of the city.
