Novellino is on a mission to bring fantastic Kosher food to the people of Brighton and Hove, with a versatile space that transforms from a cafe during the day to a bistro when the sun goes down. Friday night and Shabbat lunch are available for pre-booking only, so be sure to put in your requests before Wednesdays if you intend on popping in. All dairy is Chalav Yisroel, and the restaurant is under the supervision of KLBD.
For breakfast, go all in and enjoy the continental breakfast consisting of eggs of your choice with bread, butter and jam, a tuna mix or smoked salmon, cream cheese, a small salad, and your selection of hot and cold drinks. There's also a croissant stuffed with tomato sauce, pesto and melted mozzarella, beautifully fluffy pancakes with fruit, and omelettes with your choice of three fillings. For something a bit more different, try the toasted Jerusalem bagel with melted cheese and creamy mushrooms, or the green shakshuka with spinach, onion, courgettes, cream of pesto, eggs and feta.
The evening menu kicks off with a wide range of starters – think of everything from sushi with salmon avocado or fried tuna avocado tempura, veggie spring rolls, parmigiana aubergine rolls and deep fried mushrooms with garlic butter, cheese, pomegranate and walnut. There are several salads to choose from, including one filled with grilled halloumi, deep fried roots, avocado, raw beetroot, mixed leaves, sweet potato crisps and sweet-chilli confit. You’ll also find a sea bass salad, one with Asian salmon, a cheese trio with strawberries and grapes, and camembert salad with maple-pecan vinaigrette.
When it comes to your main meal, you can choose from a long list of pasta dishes, like gnocchi in a rose sauce or homemade ravioli, along with cod fillet goujons, tuna steak with creamy peppercorn sauce and a sunset pizza with orange cheddar.
